Healthy Communities Partnership has an opening for an Elementary Student Assistance Program Liaison/Educator.  This position will be 34-36 hours per week during the school year (mid-August through early June) with Healthy Communities Partnership.  The position will be include providing elementary liaison services for about 24 hours per week and providing education in schools for an additional 10-12 hours per week.  Interested applicants should submit resume to Christy Unger at Christy.hcp@gmail.com or by mail to 232 Lincoln Way East, Suite B, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Minimum qualifications:

·         Bachelors degree

·         Experience in human services field

·         Experience working with elementary youth and/or families (especially at-risk youth)

 

Liaison/Educator should have knowledge of:

·         local child-serving systems

·         child and adolescent mental health

·         procedures for accessing local resources for students and families

·         the school culture and SAP-related school policies and procedures for teams to which they are assigned (training will be provided)

·         student assistance program policies and procedures (training will be provided)

·         crisis intervention

·         suicide prevention and intervention

·         screening procedures

 

Liaison/Educator should have skills in:

·         working with parents, students and school personnel

·         serving as advocates for parents/caregivers and students in the healthcare system

·         accessing local resources

·         consulting with school and community child-serving professionals

 

Responsibilities may include:

·         attending Elementary SAP core team meetings at assigned schools

·         consulting with teams for interventions and assisting parents in accessing the appropriate services

·         brief screenings of children referred to SAP

·         communication and assistance to parents to connect families to necessary resources

·         participating in team maintenance

·         providing in-service and program updates

·         facilitating  or co-facilitating student education and support groups in schools (K-12)

·         providing follow-up with parents and students

·         assisting schools in promotion of SAP program to faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members

·         teaching an evidence-based curriculum (Too Good For Drugs) in classrooms throughout Franklin County
